Deputy Andrew Green



Andrew acts as a consultant for LAW in Health & Safety Hygiene. He is an experienced caterer and senior manager, with over 40 years experience in the industry. He started his career as a Junior Leader with the Army Catering Corp, serving throughout the UK, Germany, Berlin and Canada. Later joining the UK Health Service as Catering Manager at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and then the District Catering Manager or Mid Glamorgan Health Authority South Wales.

In 1981, Andrew returned to Jersey when he was appointed as Group Catering Manager for the then Jersey group of Hospitals, where he led the modernisation of the Catering Service, including the introduction of a central production catering system based on the cook chill method of food production. Significant reductions in staffing levels, waste and costs were archived and maintained as a result of this major change.

Food Hygiene has always been at the centre of Andrew's approach to catering management; he has a pragmatic approach to staff training and staff development and has over 25 years of teaching and training experience, qualifying as a tutor with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Officers (CIHEO) and developing his own CIEHO registered centre.

In addition to his duties as States Minister, Andrew has provided training and staff development throughout Jersey's industries including Highlands, Jersey Business School, hospitality, retail, care and non-profit voluntary organisations.

Training and examination with CIHEO certification is provided at Levels 2, 3 and 4.
